If your reconsideration appeal is “denied” the next step is to request a Social Security hearing before an Administrative Law Judge in your jurisdiction. At this hearing you will be able to speak face-to-face about your disability You have 60 days after receiving your denial of reconsideration to file for your hearing. After filing, it will take 12 to 18 months before you are able to appear before a judge. In the meantime, make sure you are continuing to seek treatment and documenting all changes in your condition.
