Georgia Social Security Disability Claims

Georgia Social Security Disability Claims

If you live in Georgia and have already applied for Social Security Disability benefits, then you probably already know how long the disability claims process can take.  Here in Atlanta, where my practice is located, the disability claims process can take up to 2 or 3 years.  This is because the Social Security Administration is backlogged with thousands of cases and is trying desperately to play catch up.  Yes, the SSA is aware of the problem, and it is currently doing it can to speed up the disability claims process.  For more on what is being done to speed up the disability claims process, please click on the link.

Because the SSA is aware of the extreme backlog as well as how long claimants are having to wait to get awarded benefits, there are some positives that may occur as a result of all your patience. For one, when you finally do make it to the hearing level, the Judges are very understanding of your plight, knowledgeable about procedure, fair, and well-prepared for your hearing. If your medical or mental health condition leaves you unable to work and this is clearly the case, then your chances of getting awarded disability benefits are good. Once you win, you will receive a large lump sum check (to cover the time period you have been disabled) as well as a monthly benefit check - well worth all your patience.

But in order to get a favorable decision, you must be able to support your claim.  Good medical evidence is a must.  Here at Ginsberg Law Offices, our job is to help you gather all the medical AND vocational evidence to support your claim, and really show the Judge how your medical condition leaves you unable to perform full-time work.

As I have been practicing in Georgia for over 20 years, I am familiar with many of the Georgia Judges and all of the procedures involved in the disability claims process. As a matter of fact, I am “AV” rated by the Martindale Hubbell peer review process and I am the author of two Social Security related books: the Disability Answer Guide and the Child SSI Disability Answer Guide. In addition, I am the administrator of several Social Security Disability related web sites, I operate my own Social Security Disability podcast and Social Security Disability blog, and I teach a class on how to practice Social Security Disability Law for the web-based Solo Practice University.

If you are a Georgia resident looking for additional information regarding the Social Security Disability claims process, please use the form on the right to contact us. And if you have been denied a first time, then contact my office and we can determine whether we can help you with your case from this point forward. If I do take your case, I promise to use all my skills and experience to create a case strategy that will result in a favorable decision for you.  The good news is that I work on a contingency fee basis, meaning you so not pay unless I win your case.
